"Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Self Control"

Other Half Entertainment, The Laura Branigan Management and Production Company, and LauraBraniganOnline.com, The Official Laura Branigan Website, are pleased to once again sponsor and host the 2009 Laura Branigan Spirit Of Love Memorial Gathering.

The fifth annual gathering will take place on Long Island, New York from Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Hilton Garden Inn Islip/MacArthur Airport (click for hotel website), which is located close to where Laura last resided. This weekend will be filled with remembrances of Laura as well as fun activities. To commemorate and reflect upon the fifth anniversary of Laura's passing, we will again be traveling to the ocean for a Beach Memorial, and will also hold a Candlelight Memorial at the hotel.

Also featured is a memorabilia display, where we invite attendees to bring their own personal Laura items and photos from their collections that they would like to share with everyone.  In addition, the weekend will include LOTS of Laura music and video, a viewing of Laura's 1984 Lake Tahoe Concert, Trivia Contest with prizes, Fan Forum, and more. Exclusive video footage not found anywhere else of Laura's 1998 Meadlowlands show, as well as her final performance with her band, from January 2004 at the Mohegan Sun, will also be shown. We will also partake in a special celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Laura's international MEGA-HIT, Self Control, and her biggest selling album of the same name , including a feature video presentation. On display from the Other Half Entertainment archive collection will be the RIAA Gold Record Award for the Self Control album which was presented to William Friedkin, world-renowned film director who also directed Laura's Self Control music video.

On Sunday, August 16, we will once again spend the day out and about in various areas of the Hamptons, including East Quogue, where Laura resided, featuring a drive by her home. This outing provides a great opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy the beautiful area, and spend more social time together beyond the more "programmed" aspects of the gathering. Please note that all the main scheduled activities in remembrance of Laura will take place on Friday and Saturday, which will accomodate those who may need to depart on Sunday due to work or other reasons.

Participants will receive commemorative event material, an event T-shirt, and LOTS of great memories to take home. Prizes will also be given out to the first, second, and third place winners of the Trivia Contest!

It's hard to express in words the awesome time that has been had by all who have attended this event since its inception in 2005. Something very special occurs when Laura's "other half" come together, united by our common love for Laura and our heartfelt commitment to ensure that she is never forgotten. It's a comfortable familiarity of being with those who truly "get it" when it comes to Laura Branigan. We hope to see those who have attended past gatherings return to Long Island for the 2009 Spirit Of Love, and we also look forward to meeting those of you who will join us for the first time as we join together to remember the legendary Laura Branigan.

The memorial gathering is a great opportunity to spend time with old friends, to make new ones, and to keep Laura’s memory alive and carry forth her legacy!
