Hello everyone,

Vince here for the recap of our Sunday outing for SOL 2010.

Our first stop was a brand new one this year. We headed west on Long Island to the Fire Island National Seashore, to check out the Fire Island Lighthouse, dubbed New York’s tallest lighthouse. Its 156 steps and two ladders took us out to the top deck some 167 feet above sea level. Quite a workout climbing the stairs to the top!

We then headed into the Hamptons proper, and visited Duck Walk Vineyards located in Southampton. As we had a short wait for the winery tour to begin, we sat at the patio enjoying a very good acoustic guitarist. The tour itself was very informative and interesting. After the tour, there was time for wine tasting and shopping.

Stopping for a late lunch, we honored Laura's Irish heritage, and enjoyed some delicious food and conversation at Tom McBrien's Restaurant & Pub in Hampton Bays. This establishment is beautifully reminiscent of an ancient Irish castle!

Continuing our drive back westward, we drove by Laura’s home in the small hamlet of East Quogue, and afterward made our now-traditional stop at the sign leading into the village center, so pictures could be taken in front of the sign.

Our final stop took us to our traditional visit to Westhampton Beach, where we first visited with our good friends Jim & Flo Flood, owners of Westhampton T-Shirts. We did some shopping for custom-designed gear, and took our group photo with Flo.

Next, we walked around the town and visited some other shops, eventually making our way to the Westhampton Beach Bakery, another favorite stop. We enjoyed some delicious bakery items and again enjoyed some great conversation.

After a long day out visiting on Long Island, we made our way back to the Hilton Garden Inn. However, our day didn’t seem to stop there… somehow everyone seemed to make their way to the hotel lobby, where we basically closed the hotel bar down, enjoying great conversation ranging from Laura to home remodeling, to drum sets!

A GREAT day was had by all!

NEXT: Thank-you's and concluding remarks!

Vince

Hi all,

There are so many elements that go into making Spirit Of Love a great event, and those things cannot take place without the assistance of others. We would like to recognize and sincerely thank the following for partnering with Other Half Entertainment to make the 2010 Laura Branigan Spirit Of Love Memorial Gathering event a success:

Hilton Garden Inn Islip/ MacArthur Airport Management and Staff - For their fine service and hospitality as our host hotel

Suffolk County Parks - Location of our Beach Memorial

Tommy Bayiokos - For his faithful attendance and for the gifts he brings to each gathering we have held, as well as for his written piece for the event program, and for his words spoken to our group from the podium

Codi Jeffreys, Majic 100 FM, Ottawa Canada - For her faithful on-air promotion of the event

Erika Atsumi Foreman - For her work on the Trivia Contest and accompanying video presentation, and her collaboration with us on the event t-shirt design

Steve Hidook - For his work with us on the event t-shirt design

Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society For their hospitality with our group during our lighthouse tour

Duck Walk Vineyards For their hospitality with our group during our visit and the winery tour

Tom McBrien’s Restaurant & Pub Management and Staff - Great location for our Sunday group lunch

Westhampton T-Shirts, James and Florence Flood and Staff - For their gracious hospitality during our visit

Our 2010 participants - MANY THANKS to all of you who joined us from the US and Canada, both first-timers and those who made their return to the event. All of you made the weekend so very special for Laura's memory, each other, and for us.

Thanks yet AGAIN to all mentioned above!!!

And... to all of Laura's faithful fans around the world who join with us in spirit at the gathering to carry forth her legacy... You're the BEST!!!

We greatly look forward to the 2011 Laura Branigan Spirit Of Love Memorial Gathering!

OK,
I've managed to convince the family to SERIOUSLY CONSIDER going to the United States (mainly so we can see a few concerts) in mid 2012 for a few weeks, so I think I have a (small) chance of making it next year.
So everybody cross you fingers for me!
