We hope Laura's fans had, as we had, taken the time on August 26, 2014 to mark the 10th anniversary of Laura's passing, to remember her and all she has meant to us, both collectively and individually, and to renew our commitments to the carrying forth of her wonderful legacy to ensure that she is never forgotten.

During the day of August 26, we spent some time in East Quogue, the Long Island, New York, hamlet where Laura last resided. We drove by her home, and then proceeded down her street to the neighborhood park that she loved to walk to and spend time at frequently which leads to an inlet off Shinnecock Bay. We parked and walked out to the gazebo where we said a few words, and then I placed a bouquet of flowers there in memory of Laura, on behalf of our family (Vince, Rhiannon and I) and also Laura's fans around the world.

For you, Laura - you are forever in our hearts, and we love you.

That was very nice Kathy. I didn't know there was a neighborhood park, which is great to have. Beautiful area she last lived at. Thank you again for all the hard work you and Vince do in making the Gathering happen every year! I always have a great time!! I look forward to next year :happy-wavemulticolor:
God Bless!

Thanks for taking the time to remember Laura on the 26th, and for leaving flowers for Laura, we all truly appreciate it!
I have been listening to a mix of her songs that I made. I wanted to attend the Gathering this year very badly, but couldn't do it as I have a lot of necessary home repairs to do before winter sets in again. I have managed to complete the biggest job, now on with the smaller ones.
Laura sure would have loved last winter, as there was snow to shovel many days!!! :greetings-wavingyellow:
(Personally I am NOT hoping for a repeat performance!)

I wish I could have been there with you all. I miss her so much. I listened to the Expanded Branigan album, some other favs, and Can't Stop Thinking About You by Shawn Winstian.

Ten years later, and I am still crushed. As Shawn said in his song, "Your voice my heart will keep"

I'm late, as always, but I am remembering Laura's music fondly as I relive her albums and performances.
Thank you Kathy and Vince for the work you do, and to those few but loyal longtime fans that occupy this forum.
They may not all be on LBO, but there are many, many fans who love Laura. Many of them probably know her as "Gloria" or
know nothing about her beyond her few biggest hit songs, but still, all of those people honour Laura by listening and loving her work.
We at LBO, however, are the lucky and insightful group who looked beyond the hits and saw much more great music. And although most of us never met her, we probably discovered a great person, too.

I just had a look at my "user control panel" and I have now been here five and a half years!
A lot has changed for me and others here, and I remember many conversations that we have had along the way.
Only the very best are remembered so fondly after ten years. We love you Laura, and we won't stop listening!

Best wishes and I look forward to many more years at LBO.
George

*edit: The memories of LBO are flooding back to me! I'm taking a splendid mental-trip down memory lane -
- the early days of uploading those videos onto YouTube and sharing our new discoveries,
- BF777's awesome LB covers on The Lemon Channel,
- taking the morning off school to listen to Kathy on "That 80s Show" on Canadian Radio,
- watching "Backstage,"
- and of course, "Operation: Over the Million" for LB's Forever Young video, where I, and others (I think), actually watched the video repeatedly so that the view-count would increase, haha! After watching Forever Young hundreds of times, it was possibly the only time a Laura Branigan song started to really annoy me! I'm OK now, though!

Oh, and just on the topic of kindness and the high calibre of people around here at LBO, I fondly remember the many hours we all spent chatting about Laura, as well as trading different rarities through the mail (a "no, no," I know, but rest assured, that every official album I bought of Laura's was either at a shop, at LB's boutique or on iTunes, except for Hold Me, which I got on eBay. Oh, and then Branigan 2, which TexasFanOne so kindly gifted to me in a trade of LB rarities - if that doesn't prove how friendly people are around here, I don't know what does! I forgot about that act of kindness TF1, until I was nostalgically remembering the origin of my LB discoveries, so thank you once again!

Good post there GW!!!
Yes, hard to believe it has been 5 years since Branigan's Brigade was formed to help retain some of Laura's songs onto YouTube. I am glad that all worked out so we can watch tons of her vids there these days! :romance-heartsthree: :romance-heartsthree:
I still sing the occasional song on theLEMONS2009 youtube channel but my heart has gone out of it a bit, though I think I will still write and sing a few more songs about Laura. Some take me a lot of time to write, like the one where LB's car blew the radiator on the way to a concert, and she got a police escort, since the officer's wife's favorite song was "Gloria"! I sure had lots of fun with that one!
It has been great sharing our thoughts about LB and her many songs here, and putting "Forever Young" over the 1 million views mark on Christmas Eve, was a special time. Life keeps moving on with twists and turns, but we can always find a song of Laura's to help us get through it! :greetings-wavingyellow:

Oh, I'm so sad, because I wasn't there. Maybe I'll be there when I'll be 18-20 years old?
