[font=Arial Black]On Laura's behalf, we are happy to report that Other Half Entertainment has won a legal dispute, MPD1907 Other Half Entertainment, against Dance Street Records/ZYX Music that we filed with iTunes Legal Department regarding unauthorized/illegal downloads of versions of Laura's final recordings that were previously available through their German iTunes Store.
Once the legal dispute was filed, iTunes Legal notified Dance Street/ZYX Music of the alleged rights infringement, whereby Dance Street/ZYX was given a specified time period in which to respond to our allegation. This time period passed and iTunes informed us that Dance Street/ZYX produced absolutely no proof whatsoever to assert their legal rights for the recordings in question. iTunes then proceeded to remove the content from all applicable iTunes portals, and concurrently Dance Street/ZYX has ceased to receive any further revenue. We thank iTunes for taking the appropriate action in regards to this matter.
As a point of information, all Dance Street/ZYX products bearing the Laura Branigan name that were produced and released to the public after Laura's death in August 2004 are unauthorized/illegal recordings - these include Remember Me, Self Control(The Last Recordings),and other variants. Not only are these recordings poorly produced, but they were personally rejected by Laura, and she made it distinctly clear to the producer that she did not want those recordings released to the public in any way, shape, or form, as they did not meet her very high standards for her music. Dance Street even went so far as to include a track called Reborn on one of their releases that is easily discerned as not even being Laura's vocal, but that of another singer. Dance Street's blatant disrespect of Laura's intentions for her own music and of Laura herself, as well as their blatant disregard for the industry standard of securing proper licensing, are nothing short of being deplorable, and to that end, Other Half Entertainment in representing Laura's interests will continue actions against Dance Street/ZYX Music.
