Hello from Milan, Italy.
I am a bit late in joining the forum at the ripe age of 42...
well, i guess late is better than never.
I got into Laura voice for two reasons:
well, as all of you i assume know, Ti Amo and Self Control are originally Italian songs.
the former was sung in Italian, the latter was sung in English by an Italian, so in the early '80s when my knowledge of the English language was not that great, i still had something that connected me to the singer through the songs.
The second reason is that i am a rabid Diane Warren fan.
I am part of a small circle of collectors.
we do collect all of Diane songs starting back from 1979.
Laura's work with Diane is amongs the finest in the beginning of Warren's songwriting career.
Laura's voice was the perfect instrument to make her songs come alive (to this very day i still consider Silent Partners one of Diane's best lyrics, though my fave Diane's song sung by Laura remains Solitaire (a rare mid to uptempo in the Realsongs catalogue).
Actually i am one of the few in our group that supports the thesis that Branigan was in the '80s what Dion became in the '90s to Warren.
.
I finally decided to get on board after i bought the SA greatest hits compilation.
That's when i fell for the Michael Bolton penned tunes, the Touch album and Cry Wolf and realized what a voice the lady had.
Funny, while she was still on this earth i did not care much for her...although i can testify all of her releases first hand (meaning i was not born late or too young to enjoy them while they were a work in progress).
.
I am now hooked on her and am slowly building her discography from scratch.
.
As a Warren fan i am most curious to satisfy my possible neverending quest for unreleased/shelved songs.
And on this forum someone who has better knowledge may help me out, while teaching me more on Laura through the board.
.
i have some 1050 originals, demo and covers by Diane Warren's songs (and yes, there are a couple of Laura's covers in there i am not sure even ppl in here are aware of.).
Throughout the years i built up a database for diane copywrighted songs from her beginnings as Sunset Publishing (the Jack White label) which includes some 80 unreleased songs - 20 of which cowritten with Steve Angelica aka the doctor of Laura's fame - to her current 2013 work with Realsongs.
Have the feeling most of the Warren/Angelica tunes were destinated to Laura.
Hopefully we'll find some released with the brand new expanded editions (though the first two are a major disappointment from that standpoint).
.
Anyone who is curious or wanna help SERIOUSLY with this, just ask me.
Meanwhile, thanks for having me on board!
Fabio

Wecome here Fabio!
Diane Warren is a familiar name to me, but I have to admit that I will have to go looke her up to learn more about songs written by her. I planned to do that anyway, just never got around to doing it.
I have heard that Laura wrote a bunch of songs also, and got 4 of them onto her albums, but I am curious how many more songs she wrote. I mention this fact in one of my youtube songs I have sang about her (on the LEMONS2009) channel. I personally enjoy writing new lyrics to existing songs, sometimes the new lyrics just pop into my mind. Music doesn't work that way for me, I can never think up a new tune.
Anyway, to get back on subject, it sounds like you have an awesome collection there!

Thanks guys,
i can confirm there is (unfortunately) no co-writing between Diane and Laura amongst the unreleased or copyrighted songs.
i'll have to check and post what i have on hand...maybe someone in here has them and is not aware?
will do this upcoming weekend!
Can anyone in here get more info on Steve(n) Angelica aka The Doctor?
He wrote quite a bunch of tyunes for Laura as well....
have a great day!

Hi everyone,

I don't believe Laura did any songwriting with Diane.

The following is a great resource for Diane's song catalog:

Just want to emphasize the word "speculation," as someone doing a quick read through the post, may not catch that, and then we get bombarded by fans regarding "unreleased" tracks by Laura, when in actuality there is no confirmation at this time that Laura was associated in any way with any of these tracks, or recorded any of them under the auspices of Atlantic Records.

correct Kathy...
SPECULATION is the keuword (unfortunately) here.
I do have a VERY RELIABLE source who is in touch with Realsongs, yet the Warren estate is that huge that sometimes not even ppl working in there are aware of alternate versions of the songs released in other countries.
i'll try and see what he can find out about POSSIBLE other Laura recordings with Diane.
here's the part two of the list:
Makin' up for lost love / By Diane Warren & The Doctor. PA 200-914 (1983)
Natural rhythm / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
Never gonna change my heart / By Diane Waren & The Doctor. PAu 385-585 (1982)
One star to wish on / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
One way love affair / By Diane Warren & The Doctor. PA 200-912 (1983)
Ooh baby (you make all the difference) By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
Save a place for love / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
Save it for the night / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
Slow burning love / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
Stop signs / By Diane Warren & The Doctor. PAu 563-813 (1983)
Straight to your heart / By Diane Warren & The Doctor.
Takin' this love to heart / By Diane Warren & The Doctor.
That goodbye look / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
That's the kind of love / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
The Pride side / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
The Way to hold a woman / By D. Warren & S. Angelica.
This is my moment / By D. Warren & The Doctor.
Those two people / By Diane Warren & The Doctor. PAu 398-735 (1982)
Treat her like you need her / By Diane Warren & The Doctor. PAu 395-789 (1982)
